A primary blending grape in white Rhône blends that also include Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and sometimes Viognier. A great alternative to Chardonnay. Pairing: Rich and fruity Marsanne pairs excellently with rich shellfish (think shrimp), and its citrus notes make it a great counterpoint to South Asian cuisine (e.g. Thai or Vietnamese). Profile (Wine Folly): Dry, Medium Body, None Tannins, Medium-low Acidity, 13.5–15% ABV. Serving: serve at 45–55°F / 7-12°C; white-wine glass; no need to decant; cellar 10+ years.
