Cinsault is a classic Mediterranean grape from Languedoc and the southern Rhône, where it brings lightness, floral perfume, and freshness to Rhône blends alongside Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. It produces light-bodied wines with soft tannins and plenty of red fruit, making it ideal for high-quality rosés. It resists heat and drought very well, a virtue that makes it valuable in warm regions. It has a place in wine's genetic history: it's one of the parents of South African Pinotage (crossed with Pinot Noir). In Argentina it appears gradually, especially in rosés and Mediterranean-style blends that seek freshness and drinkability.
